Owens Corning Roofing Warranties

There are four levels of warranty protection when you have Owens Corning shingles protecting your home. But better understand what each warranty offers, here are the aspects common to all the warranties:

Tru PROtection® – Each Owens Corning warranty begins with Tru PROtection®. This includes the cost of labor to replace, recover, or repair products if they are determined to be defective.
Material-Only Coverage – Once the Tru PROtection® Period has expired, the warranty will provide coverage for materials only. The cost of labor will not be covered.
Blow-Off Coverage – After your shingles have achieved thermal sealing, they will be covered under the warranty if they experience wind damage or blow-offs in winds up to the level between 110 mph and 130 mph.
StreakGuard™ Algae Resistance – This is coverage against brown-black staining, which can appear on your roof due to the growth of blue-green algae (cyanobacteria Gloeocapsa magma).

Standard Product Limited Warranty

This basic warranty level is available to anyone installing Owens Corning products; you don’t need to work with a certified contractor. It is good for the lifetime of your roof and comes with Tru PROtection for the first 10 years, blow-off coverage for the first 15 years, material-only coverage after 10 years, and algae resistance for the first 10 years.

There’s no extra fee for this warranty, but you don’t get workmanship coverage. This may be a good option if you’re building a temporary residence, outbuilding, or addition.

System Protection Limited Warranty

This is the first level of Owens Corning’s extended warranty coverage. It is only available to the manufacturer’s Preferred or Platinum Contractor, requires three Owens Corning components on your roof, and has an additional cost. It covers shingles and all components and is good for the lifetime of your shingles.

With this plan, you get Tru PROtection for the first 50 years, material-only coverage after 50 years, algae coverage for the first 10 years, and blow-off coverage for 15 years.

Preferred Protection Limited Warranty

The Preferred Protection Roofing System Limited Warranty provides all the features of the Roofing Protection System Warranty, but you’ll also receive 10 years of workmanship coverage. This level of protection requires a minimum of four Owens Corning roofing components and is only available when you work with contractors Roofing Preferred Contractor Network.

Platinum Protection Limited Warranty

This is the best roofing warranty in the industry. It provides complete coverage for the shingles and required components. In addition to all the features of the Preferred Protection Warranty, you also get a lifetime of workmanship coverage. Meaning if your roof is found to have an application error or manufacturing defect, labor, tear-off, disposal, and material costs, will be covered for the lifetime of your roof.
